Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that multiple rounds of negotiations with the Afghan government have yielded no results. He emphasized that the Afghan authorities refused to provide written guarantees preventing attacks against Pakistan from Afghan soil.
According to Asif, Afghan officials only agree verbally but fail to stop armed groups from operating. He warned that if this situation continues, Pakistan might be forced to consider other options, including direct military confrontation along the border.
These remarks come amid rising armed attacks in Pakistan's border regions. However, China's special envoy and Pakistan's ambassador to Russia have recently reported a de-escalation of tensions, expressing hope for increased regional cooperation and lasting peace.
