The Deputy Head of Russian Railways announced that technical experts from Russia and Uzbekistan are actively working on the Afghan-Trans railway feasibility study. This ambitious project aims to establish a continuous rail connection between Central and South Asia.

Previously, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan signed a comprehensive roadmap for constructing this vital railway line, but political shifts temporarily halted the initiative. Currently, technical work regarding route determination and preliminary surveys within Afghanistan has successfully resumed.

The massive infrastructure project spans over 600 kilometers with an estimated construction cost of nearly 4.6 billion dollars. The designated railway route begins in northern Afghanistan and ultimately concludes at a strategic border crossing in neighboring Pakistan.
