The Islamic Wahdat Party of Afghanistan, led by Mohammad Karim Khalili, described the Taliban government's treatment of Shia clerics as "systematic discrimination." The party strongly condemned the recent humiliation and beating of cleric Hussaindad Sharifi in Kabul.
In its statement, the party declared these actions a blatant violation of religious freedoms and the rights of Jafari jurisprudence followers. They emphasized that this behavior is part of an ongoing campaign to suppress the religious and social identity of Shias in Afghanistan.
The party urged human rights organizations and political figures not to remain silent against these religious freedom violations. Previously, reports indicated that several Shia clerics were arrested and insulted for performing temporary marriages.
