The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that Denmark has contributed 5.49 million dollars to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund. This financial assistance aims to support vulnerable communities across the country.
OCHA expressed its gratitude for the contribution, stating that it will help affected populations recover from economic shocks and access critical life-saving assistance. Denmark had also provided nearly 6.9 million dollars to the humanitarian fund last year.
This donation comes as the United Nations Development Programme recently reported that nearly three-quarters of Afghanistan's population still cannot meet their basic needs. Severe droughts, mass return of migrants, and economic pressures have further deepened the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
