British media outlets have reported that over a hundred Afghan citizens are currently residing at the RAF Cosford airbase. Local authorities confirmed that twenty-four Afghan families have been temporarily settled in the military service family accommodations at the site.
These families, comprising both adults and numerous children, were relocated under the official Afghan citizens resettlement scheme. However, some local residents have expressed concerns regarding the lack of transparent information about the intended duration of their stay.
British officials have stated they are actively working with the families to find suitable alternative housing before their current terms expire. The first group of these refugees is expected to completely vacate the military airbase by November of this year.
