The UN Human Rights Office has once again issued a strong warning regarding the ongoing forced return of Afghan migrants from host countries, urging governments to immediately halt the practice. Spokesperson Shabia Mantoo expressed grave concern over the deportation of vulnerable men, women, and children.
During a press briefing, she emphasized that these individuals are being sent back to Afghanistan against their will, putting them at serious risk of human rights violations. The deported populations include highly vulnerable groups such as journalists, civil society activists, and former security personnel.
Mantoo warned that forcibly returning people who face severe risks contradicts the fundamental principles of international law. The United Nations reiterated that host nations must refrain from actions that endanger Afghan migrants and must adhere to their international legal obligations.
