Pakistani police have confirmed that twenty nine people were killed in a fierce clash between security forces and armed militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Pakistani authorities have attributed these armed individuals to terrorist groups operating in the region.
This deadly conflict took place in the Barakzai Akhundkhel area of Bannu district, and civilians as well as police officers are among the casualties. Ten other individuals, including several civilians, were injured during this violent incident.
Local sources state that tensions in this area remain high, and gunfire can still be heard from both sides. The police have claimed that two senior militant commanders were also killed during this ongoing security operation.
