Local sources in Badakhshan province have confirmed that Taliban government forces arrested a former military member named Zubair. He was apprehended a few days ago by the men of a local commander in the Baharak district of the province.
According to sources, the former soldier is originally from the Wardoj district and was handed over to the Taliban government's intelligence agency after his arrest. So far, there is absolutely no information available regarding his health condition or his exact current whereabouts.
Zubair had been forcibly deported from Iran a few months ago and was living quietly in his hometown. Previously, the United Nations had expressed deep concern over the targeted killings and arbitrary arrests of former government security personnel by the Taliban administration.
