A group of journalists and media managers across Europe and Asia have announced the establishment of the International Federation of Afghan Media. This independent organization aims to address the severe challenges facing the Afghan media community.
The founders stated that their primary goal is to protect journalists, defend freedom of speech, and foster solidarity among media outlets. Media workers have endured immense economic difficulties, forced migration, and professional pressures in recent years.
The federation will act as an umbrella organization to support journalists in exile and build their professional capacities. Since the Taliban government took power, media freedom has severely declined due to numerous restrictive policies.
