Recent statistics released by the Taliban government commission for refugees reveal that the forced deportation of Afghan citizens remains a massive ongoing issue. Between May 30 and June 5 over fifteen thousand Afghan migrants were expelled from Pakistan and sent back to their home country.
In addition to the deportations from Pakistan approximately one thousand six hundred Afghan refugees were also returned from Iran either forcefully or voluntarily. These individuals reentered Afghanistan through major border crossings including Torkham Spin Boldak Islam Qala and the Silk Bridge.
The International Organization for Migration has previously highlighted the massive scale of these returns noting hundreds of thousands have crossed back this year. This mass influx includes thousands of vulnerable families women and children who desperately require immediate humanitarian assistance and proper resettlement support.
