Local sources in Herat province confirmed that Mortaza Karimi, an Afghan teenager injured during protests in the Jibrail area, has passed away. He sustained severe leg injuries from gunfire by Taliban government forces during the demonstrations.
Reports indicate the patient's condition worsened due to heavy bleeding, and several private hospitals refused to admit him. He was eventually taken to a public hospital, but tragically died from massive blood loss and severe kidney failure.
The protests in Herat were initially sparked by the detention of young girls over strict dress codes. The Taliban government has deployed extra security forces in the province to prevent further public gatherings or demonstrations during the teenager's funeral.
