Local sources in Kandahar province have announced that the Taliban government has completely banned the use of smartphones for all government employees and military forces. This strict directive officially went into effect on Monday.
Following the implementation of this decision, many government departments are now facing serious communication and administrative challenges. Previously, the head of Herat University, acting on orders from the Taliban government leadership, also prohibited professors and staff from bringing smartphones to the campus.
Government employees warn that violators of this new rule could face severe consequences, including being referred to military courts. Over recent years, the Taliban government has imposed extensive restrictions on access to modern communication tools across Afghanistan.
