The Taliban government has introduced a new law changing the term police to the Arabic word Shurta. This decision was initially discussed months ago during a leadership meeting in Kandahar and is now being officially implemented in Kabul.

Sources indicate that the supreme leader of the Taliban government requested the replacement of foreign terms with national or Islamic alternatives. Although local words were suggested, officials finalized Shurta, and the interior ministry has already begun using the new term in official communications.

Critics argue that changing this widely recognized title without a formal parliament could lead to legal and social issues. Furthermore, updating all vehicles, uniforms, and official documents will require significant financial resources, which many believe is not a priority right now.
