The body of Iran's former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was finally laid to rest at the Imam Reza shrine in the city of Mashhad following a week of funeral processions.
A massive crowd gathered in Mashhad to bid farewell to the former leader and his deceased family members. The funeral prayer was led by his eldest son during a midnight ceremony.
The former leader and several of his family members were killed in joint US and Israeli strikes back in February. Their burial took place after approximately five months amid renewed regional conflicts.
