The "Polio-Free Afghanistan" organization announced the launch of a fresh polio vaccination campaign in the eastern part of the country. This vital program is scheduled to begin comprehensively on Saturday in Kunar province and five districts of Nuristan province.
According to the organization's statement, eligible children will receive both injectable vaccines and oral polio drops simultaneously during this drive. This dual approach aims to significantly boost the children's immunity and entirely prevent the spread of the dangerous virus.
Afghanistan remains one of the very few countries globally where the wild poliovirus has not been fully eradicated. Health workers strongly urge Afghan families to cooperate closely with vaccination teams to ensure a healthy future for their children.
