British media have reported that the UK government will add the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to its list of banned organizations. This move will grant British police and intelligence agencies more power to counter related threats.
The UK Prime Minister stated that the new powers will make it easier to prosecute and imprison anyone executing missions for these groups. He emphasized that the UK will not become a playground for foreign violence.
The IRGC was already under UK sanctions. Several other Western nations have also designated the group as a terrorist organization, while Iran has retaliated by labeling the militaries of those countries as terrorists.
