The statistics authority under the Taliban government has announced a significant increase in cultivated agricultural land across Afghanistan this year. The cultivated area has expanded by more than ten percent compared to the previous year.

According to the official report, over three million hectares of land are currently under cultivation, including both irrigated and rain-fed fields. The Taliban government attributes this agricultural growth to timely rainfall and favorable climate conditions.

Despite the positive impact of increased rainfall following years of severe drought, sudden and heavy floods have still caused significant damage to farms in several provinces. Helmand province currently holds the largest share of irrigated land.
