Local officials in Panjshir province have announced the successful sale of over three thousand carats of newly mined emeralds. This valuable quantity of precious stones was sold through an open bidding process for over two million Afghanis.
The provincial spokesperson added that these precious gemstones were extracted from the mines in the Hesa Awal district during the past two weeks. The systematic extraction and commercial sale of these minerals by the Taliban government continues regularly.
Revenues generated from the sale of such mineral resources play a crucial role in funding the Taliban government's operations. However, some political factions strongly criticize this ongoing process, describing it as the exploitation of national wealth.
