Local sources report that a former government police commander was targeted in an armed attack in Kandahar province. The violent incident occurred in the Shir Surkh Baba area, leaving the victim severely injured.
Unidentified masked gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on the former military officer. He sustained four gunshot wounds during the sudden assault and was immediately transferred to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
The targeted individual had been living as a civilian since the collapse of the previous republic. Local Taliban administration officials in Kandahar have not yet released any official statements regarding the assassination attempt.
