Germany’s Federal Constitutional Court has ruled that the government cannot collectively revoke resettlement promises made to Afghan nationals. The court firmly mandated that authorities must review and process each immigration case on an individual basis.

This landmark ruling followed a lawsuit filed by an Afghan mother and her two sons, who were previously approved for humanitarian transfer. The court stated that the Interior Ministry's decision to cancel nearly 640 remaining commitments outright violated constitutional principles against arbitrary actions.

As a result of this judgment, the German government is obligated to continue providing financial support to these families, many of whom are stranded in Pakistan, until final visa decisions are made.
