Uzbekistan and the Taliban administration have signed ninety trade agreements since the beginning of the current year. The total value of these contracts is estimated at over 1.4 billion dollars, reflecting significant growth in bilateral economic relations.
The National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan announced that Afghanistan currently ranks among Tashkent's top ten major trading partners. Officials from both sides recently emphasized their mutual goal to increase annual trade volume to 5 billion dollars.
Economic experts believe Uzbekistan is pursuing its financial interests while viewing Afghanistan as a crucial transit route to South Asia. Currently, Uzbekistan primarily exports electricity, fuel, and food products to the Afghan market.
