Mawlawi Habibullah Hussam, head of the National Resistance Front's Council of Scholars, sharply rejected recent statements by Iran's deputy ambassador in Kabul, saying the Iranian diplomat has no standing to draw lines between the National Resistance Front and a "takfiri proxy group." He published his response on the social media platform X.

Hussam emphasized that the Taliban, due to their "Khawarij and takfiri ideology," do not consider followers of Islamic schools of thought to be Muslims and do not recognize Iran's own jihad as "resistance." He questioned what common ground Mortazavi has with the Taliban to take such a position.

The reaction follows statements by Seyyed Hassan Mortazavi, Iran's deputy ambassador, who said armed struggle against the Taliban is not "resistance." Informed sources have also told media that Iran has been pressuring Resistance Front members based in Iran to halt their activities.
