The Freedom Front claimed that Taliban forces attacked its positions in Zibaak, Badakhshan on Wednesday afternoon. According to the front, the fighting lasted four hours and they successfully repelled the assault.
The Freedom Front also claimed that five Taliban members were killed and 11 others wounded in the clashes. The Taliban have not yet commented on the matter and have neither confirmed nor denied these claims.
Badakhshan has witnessed scattered armed clashes in recent months. Due to its geographic and border location, the province is considered one of the sensitive security zones in northern Afghanistan.
