US President Donald Trump has ordered a new investigation into the leak of information about Pentagon ammunition stockpiles, following weeks of media reports about declining reserves after the war with Iran. The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that the probe focuses on identifying the source of the leaked data about US weapons stockpiles.

According to the report, Patriot missiles, Stinger missiles, SM-3 interceptors, and the THAAD system are among the weapons about which US officials have expressed concern over dwindling supplies. The investigation comes amid growing concerns about US military capacity against multiple simultaneous threats.

The Wall Street Journal also cited new US intelligence assessments suggesting Vladimir Putin may test NATO's resolve with a limited action against a member state between fall 2026 and 2029. The probability of a ground incursion is currently rated low but is said to be increasing over time.
