Two brothers aged 20 and 22, identified as Farshid and Jamshid Haqbin, were stabbed to death on Thursday morning at a restaurant in Shahr-e-Naw, Kabul, by a worker at the same establishment. The victims were residents of Ghaybatan village in Injil district, Herat.
According to sources, a verbal altercation over work-related matters had occurred between the brothers and the worker the night before, which appeared to have ended. However, the following morning the worker entered the brothers' sleeping quarters with a kitchen knife and killed both. The suspect has been arrested.
The killings come as Taliban statistics indicate a nearly 60% rise in recorded criminal offenses across Afghanistan. The Taliban's Interior Ministry reported the arrest of 1,878 individuals on various criminal charges in just one month.
