The United Nations announced that 724 trucks carrying humanitarian aid have entered Afghanistan through Pakistan. The supplies include food and essential humanitarian equipment, reaching the most vulnerable families.
The Afghanistan-Pakistan land border has been largely closed since October 2025 due to border tensions between the Taliban government and Pakistan, severely disrupting aid delivery routes. The World Food Programme had previously warned that acute malnutrition among Afghan children had reached critical levels.
Nearly 14 million of Afghanistan's 40 million population face acute hunger. While the arrival of these supplies is a positive step, the continued border closure keeps aid delivery to millions of Afghans in need a serious challenge.
