On the occasion of Afghanistan's 107th Independence Day, the Taliban claimed that Afghanistan has defeated three major world powers within a single century.

Taliban deputy spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat stated that Britain was forced to accept Afghan independence 107 years ago following the Third Anglo-Afghan War. The Taliban also referenced the Soviet withdrawal in 1989 and the US withdrawal in 2021.

The Treaty of Rawalpindi, signed on August 19, 1919, ended the Third Anglo-Afghan War. British records show 250 soldiers killed and 650 wounded. Afghan historical documents record approximately 1,000 Afghan battlefield deaths.
