Taliban police in Kandahar have confirmed that two armed members of the group beat and tortured a number of children in Spin Boldak district.

A source told the newspaper Etilaat-e Roz that the two Taliban members detained at least 12 children yesterday along the Spin Boldak-Chaman route and severely beat and tortured them. According to the source, the Taliban members accused the children of illegally transporting or smuggling goods along the route.
A video circulating on social media shows Taliban members publicly beating the children with sticks.
The video has triggered widespread reactions, with many residents describing the Taliban members' conduct as "inhumane."
The incident has renewed concerns about violent behavior by some Taliban forces toward civilians, including children, in border areas.
