The Taliban government's police command in Nangarhar has announced that four people were killed and 13 others were injured in two separate traffic accidents in the province's Chaparhar and Bati Kot districts.

Sayed Tayib Hammad, the spokesman for the Taliban police command in Nangarhar, said on Friday, October 2nd, that both accidents occurred on the same day. He added that driver carelessness was the main cause of the incidents.

In the first accident, a "Suzuki" type vehicle veered off the road and overturned in the Bati Kot district. According to Hammad, this incident resulted in two fatalities and 13 injuries, including women and children.

The second accident took place in the "Dawlatzai" area of Chaparhar district. The Nangarhar police spokesman explained that in this incident, a "Saracha" type car collided with two children who were crossing the road.

Tragically, both children died at the scene. The injured from the first accident have been transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The spokesman for the Taliban's police command in Nangarhar cited driver recklessness and non-compliance with traffic laws and principles as the primary causes for both accidents. He urged all drivers to drive cautiously.

Traffic accidents are a leading cause of death and injury for citizens in Afghanistan. Factors such as excessive speed, improper overtaking, poor road conditions, lack of adherence to traffic laws, and mobile phone use while driving are consistently cited as the main reasons for these deadly incidents.
