itish police have announced the arrest of a seventh suspect in an alleged plot to attack Royal Air Force (RAF) Fairford, a base that was housing US bombers. UK officials have previously spoken of strong signs pointing to the involvement of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the case.
In a statement, itish counter-terrorism police said a 22-year-old itish man was arrested on Tuesday, October 6, in London's Westminster area on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts. The arrest occurred after the US bombers had already left the base due to security threats.
According to The Washington Post, citing informed sources, the Pentagon auptly moved about 12 B-1 long-range bombers from the base on October 2 and 3 after receiving warnings about a potential attack. RAF Fairford, which belongs to the Royal Air Force, is located about 120 kilometers northwest of London.
The investigation into the case began on September 26 with the arrest of five itish men near the base, with itish officials examining the potential role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the plot.
On October 4, former US President Donald Trump linked the bombers' withdrawal to security threats, stating it was not a coincidence. He added that the US knows who was behind the threat.
