Local sources in Ghazni province say that in a fatal traffic accident in the Andar district, five members of one family, including women and children, lost their lives and two others were injured.
According to these sources, the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, October 6, in the "Shahbaz" area of Andar district, along the Kabul-Kandahar highway. The accident happened when a "580" type truck collided with a Corolla passenger car.
The cause of the accident has been attributed to reckless driving and excessive speed. The victims of the incident were all occupants of the Corolla car. Local Taliban officials in Ghazni have not yet officially commented on the accident.
The Kabul-Kandahar highway is one of the busiest and, at the same time, deadliest roads in Afghanistan. Poor road conditions, lack of standard traffic signs, high speeds, and driver negligence are among the main reasons for traffic accidents on this route and in other parts of the country.
Traffic accidents claim hundreds of lives in Afghanistan annually and leave thousands injured and disabled. These incidents are considered one of the main causes of non-combat deaths in the country.
This event occurs despite a recent decree from the Taliban leader ordering the arrest and punishment of those responsible for traffic accidents. However, reports indicate that the number of fatal traffic accidents remains high, with no significant change in road safety conditions.
