Thousands of residents in the Omid Sabz township in western Kabul are facing the imminent threat of having their homes seized and being forcibly evicted by Taliban authorities, according to reports from local sources. The situation has created deep concern over property rights and the security of the residents, who are predominantly from the Hazara ethnic group.

According to local sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, Taliban officials have begun the process of taking over homes and have warned residents not to speak with the media or on social networks. These sources added that people have been told they will be met with gunfire if they organize or participate in protests against the seizures.

In an effort to resolve the issue, a number of Hazara elders and religious scholars have attempted to meet with the Taliban's Minister of Justice. However, these efforts have reportedly yielded no significant results. Sources claim that some individuals who tried to arrange meetings to discuss the matter have been detained.

In a recent case, a former member of parliament, Mr. Akhlaqi, was imprisoned after he tried to meet with Taliban officials to address the problem. A source stated that he was only released after his family agreed to vacate their home. This action has intensified pressure on other residents to comply with the Taliban's demands.

The developing situation has heightened anxieties about housing security, the respect for property rights, and the prevention of forced displacement in the Omid Sabz community. Residents are appealing to the relevant authorities to ensure that any decisions regarding their homes and properties are made through a legal process, with fair adjudication and full respect for their rights.

This event follows other reports of land and property confiscation by Taliban-affiliated individuals in various parts of Afghanistan since their return to power.
