Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have shared videos showing their drone attacks on positions held by Saudi Arabia-backed forces.
The videos, which have been widely circulated on social media, show drones dropping unguided bombs from high above into trenches, causing explosions among the troops. The footage highlights the precision of these strikes.
The accuracy of the attacks has drawn the attention of analysts. Referring to the precision strikes, one user on the X social media platform wrote, "These guys make Russians and Ukrainians look like amateurs."
In response to these and other similar attacks, Saudi Arabia has reportedly launched an investigation into why its air defence systems are failing to intercept and destroy Houthi drones and missiles.
This is the latest development in the long-running war in Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition has been fighting the Houthi movement since 2015. The Houthis have increasingly utilized advanced drone and missile technology.
The Houthis and Iran claim this weaponry is domestically produced, but the Saudi-led coalition and the United States maintain that the technology is supplied to the Houthis by Iran. This issue has fueled regional tensions.
