Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that Moscow is ready to help resolve the Iran crisis through diplomatic means. He made these remarks during a meeting with Steve Witkoff, a special envoy for U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to Reuters, Putin emphasized during the meeting on Wednesday, October 21, that the capacity for diplomacy to resolve the Iran crisis has not yet been exhausted and that reaching an agreement with Tehran is possible. This stance indicates Russia's effort to play a mediating role in one of the most complex international crises.

Yuri Ushakov, the Russian President's foreign affairs advisor, told reporters that the meeting between Putin and Witkoff lasted nearly three hours. He said that during the meeting, the two sides discussed the Iran crisis and a number of other issues in detail.

Ushakov added that Russia has declared its readiness to continue efforts to find political and diplomatic solutions to the Iran crisis. Moscow has always considered Iran a strategic partner and has stressed resolving differences through dialogue.

This meeting takes place as tensions between Iran and the U.S. remain high, and diplomatic efforts to prevent a wider conflict are ongoing. Russia's offer to help could open a new window for de-escalation.

Russia's role as a global power, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, and its close ties with Iran give Moscow the capacity to act as an acceptable mediator for both sides. However, the success of these efforts will depend on the political will of Tehran and Washington.
