Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in Moscow at the head of a high-level delegation to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting is scheduled for today, Tuesday, October 27, and will focus on strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

According to Iran's state news agency, IRNA, Mr. Pezeshkian was welcomed at Moscow's Vnukovo airport last night by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko. The visit is part of efforts to deepen the strategic relationship between Tehran and Moscow.

In addition to meeting with Putin, the Iranian President will also participate in the 8th summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). Before his trip, Mr. Pezeshkian stated that a key objective of the summit is to "expand multilateral cooperation and counter unilateralism."

He emphasized, "It is unacceptable for one power to want to make decisions for other countries based on its own will and impose restrictions on them." He added that the summit will also discuss the security of energy transit routes and ensuring freedom of trade.

The GECF includes 12 main members, such as Russia, Iran, Qatar, and the UAE, along with 8 observer countries. Together, these nations control approximately 70% of the world's natural gas reserves and over 40% of its gas exports.

This visit occurs as both countries face international sanctions and are seeking to form a common front to counter Western pressure. Cooperation in the fields of energy, trade, and security will be central to the discussions between the two presidents.
