The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has issued a statement expressing condolences over the passing of Professor Abdul Salam Azimi, the former Chief Justice of Afghanistan.
While honoring his memory, the Front highlighted the essential role of an independent judiciary in a democratic system.
The statement strongly criticized the current state of the judicial system under the Taliban.
The AFF alleged that the judiciary has been transformed into a tool for oppression, used to enforce “primitive dominance” and impose severe restrictions on the civil liberties of Afghan citizens.
Azimi was a respected legal figure who led the judiciary during the republic era.
His death has sparked renewed debate about the collapse of legal institutions in Afghanistan and the lack of due process under the current administration.
