Local sources from Panjshir province report that “Zaki Commando,” a former government military officer, was arrested by the Taliban’s Interior Ministry in Kabul on Tuesday, September 9th.

He had recently been deported from Iran and returned to Afghanistan, where he was previously detained during the former government for allegedly shooting at a photo of former President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

According to sources, Zaki was released from prison after the Taliban returned to power and, like many former military personnel, migrated to Iran.

However, following his recent return to Afghanistan, he has been arrested again.

No information is available about Zaki’s fate since his arrest, and the Taliban group has not commented on the matter.

This is not the first case of former military personnel being detained, as reports indicate the Taliban have arrested dozens of former government soldiers.
