Bengaluru’s Avalahalli police are planning to approach the Karnataka High Court again after singer Sonu Nigam failed to respond to three police notices in the Kannada concert controversy The police also intend to request the Advocate General to vacate the interim protection order granted to the singer.

The controversy began during a music concert when an audience member repeatedly demanded that Nigam sing a Kannada song. The singer allegedly linked this demand to the Pahalgam terror attack, which angered Kannada cultural organizations and triggered protests.

An FIR was registered against him on May 3rd under several sections including criminal intimidation and intentional insult.

Although the Karnataka High Court granted Nigam interim relief in May, directing no coercive action against him provided he cooperates with the investigation his alleged non-compliance with multiple notices has prompted police to seek stronger legal action. The court had permitted him to give statements via video conferencing, but officials claim he has ignored their communications entirely.
