Siddharth Roy Kapur, veteran Bollywood producer, highlighted the success of films like Saiyaara and Mahavatar as evidence that the industry doesn’t always need star power to thrive.

Speaking on the Game Changers podcast, he emphasized that strong content and innovative storytelling can attract audiences without relying solely on big-name actors.

Kapur cited Saiyaara’s success, featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, which earned over Rs 350 crore domestically.

He also mentioned Kantara: Chapter 1, which grossed Rs 579 crore, as proof that non-star films can achieve massive success at the box office.

The producer stressed that instead of pressuring stars to reduce fees, the industry should focus on creating business models that aren’t star-dependent.

He noted that audiences have shown they don’t need stars if good content is provided, suggesting a shift toward content-driven filmmaking.
