Three big cats at the Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent are experiencing unexplained mobility issues that have baffled veterinarians.
Luca, a four-year-old Amur tiger, Django, a ten-year-old mainland clouded leopard, and Mo, a four-year-old Southern African cheetah, all underwent specialist CT scans on Monday.
Veterinarians used a mobile CT scanning unit to investigate the mysterious cause of the animals’ discomfort.
Each cat was sedated in their enclosure before being transported to the mobile center for high-resolution scans.
Briony Smith, curator at the sanctuary, emphasized that ensuring the comfort and safety of their cats remains their top priority.
The scans will be analyzed by specialist veterinary radiographers, with results expected within two weeks.
Following the procedures, all three cats were safely returned to their habitats while still sedated and monitored as they recovered. The collaborative effort demonstrates exceptional animal welfare standards.
