Afghanistan’s U-17 futsal team made history by defeating Iran 2-1 in the Asian Youth Games final in Manama, Bahrain, claiming their first-ever continental championship.
The historic victory took place on Thursday evening, October 29th, 2025.
The young Afghan players showed brilliant performance throughout the tournament, defeating China, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Bahrain consecutively.
In the semi-final, Afghanistan crushed Thailand with an impressive 9-1 victory to reach the final.
The national team players returned to Kabul on Saturday morning, October 31st, receiving a warm welcome from citizens.
This championship represents the remarkable leap forward Afghan futsal has made in recent years.
