The World Health Organization announced that in the first hours after the earthquake in northern Afghanistan, it sent medical care teams and life-saving equipment to the earthquake-affected areas.

The organization said medical staff are now present in the area and providing health services to earthquake victims.

The World Health Organization wrote in a post on social media platform X that this earthquake occurred while the people of Afghanistan are still in shock from the effects of the earthquake in the east of the country.

The organization added that it has begun helping victims in coordination with local Taliban authorities.

The United Nations mission in Afghanistan previously announced that aid teams have been deployed to earthquake-affected areas for needs assessment and emergency assistance.

The organization added: “We stand with the affected communities and will provide the necessary support.”
