Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that oil and gas pipelines should be built across the Arabian Peninsula to Israeli ports to remove Iran's threat over energy exports from the Strait of Hormuz. He attempted to defend his country's military actions in the war with Iran, while Israel's attack on Iran's South Pars gas field caused global oil prices to rise again.
Responding to questions about the South Pars attack, Netanyahu said Israel acted alone. He added that President Trump asked them not to conduct such attacks in the future, and Israel will comply.
Netanyahu emphasized that alternative routes to the Strait of Hormuz must be found. Reuters reported that Israel appears to have an interest in the long-term blockage of this critical energy export chokepoint.
