The organization “Nai in Exile,” which supports Afghan media, has expressed concern over the detention of Fatima Hamnawa, an Afghan journalist, by Pakistani police.
Hamnawa was arrested on Tuesday along with her two children from the “B-17” area in Islamabad.
The media advocacy organization emphasized that journalists should not be sent to “slaughterhouses” and, referring to the situation under Taliban rule, noted that the group kills journalists and intellectual opponents.
Nai in Exile called on Pakistan to adhere to its commitments to protect vulnerable individuals, including journalists.
The detention of Afghan refugees in Pakistan has increased in recent days.
