Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, met with Donald Trump, President of the United States, and discussed terrorism, Dushanbe’s security concerns, and drug trafficking.
According to a newsletter from Tajikistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs published on Saturday, November 8, the important part of these talks consisted of terrorism, extremism, countering threats, and illegal drug trafficking.
This meeting took place at a time when Tajikistan has serious concerns about the security of its borders with Afghanistan.
Drug trafficking from Afghanistan, which has almost doubled, was one of the main topics raised in these discussions.
The President of Tajikistan emphasized the importance of stability in Afghanistan as a key factor for the security of Tajikistan and the entire region and raised the necessity of strengthening regional cooperation to counter security threats.
