Over 40 Indian Umrah pilgrims lost their lives in a fatal accident on the highway between Mecca and Medina.
The tragedy occurred when a bus carrying pilgrims collided with a diesel tanker and subsequently caught fire.
Most victims were from Hyderabad, India, who had traveled to Saudi Arabia for Umrah pilgrimage.
The accident happened in the early hours of Monday, November 17, 2025, around 1:30 AM local time.
The Telangana State Haj Committee confirmed that 42 pilgrims died in the incident with only one survivor India’s Embassy in Riyadh and Consulate in Jeddah are providing all possible assistance to the affected families.
This tragic incident has devastated many families in Hyderabad. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also responded on Twitter, stating that Indian officials are providing all necessary assistance.
