Roman Myo, a French traveler, warned after visiting Ghor province that the Jam Minaret, the world’s second tallest brick minaret, stands alone among towering mountains and faces erosion.
This 62-meter tall historical monument, built in the 12th century, was one of five dream destinations for this traveler.
Myo shared images on Instagram stating: “The Jam Minaret is a masterpiece of Islamic art. Many of its bricks have fallen and its lapis lazuli tiles are crumbling.”
Located at the confluence of Harirud and Jamrud rivers, this monument was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2002.
The traveler emphasized that this unique structure must be protected before it’s too late.
The Jam Minaret features a three-story structure built on an octagonal base, entirely decorated with Quranic verses and intricate carvings throughout its surface.
