Amanda McGregor, Australia’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, welcomed the unity and alignment of Afghan political parties and movements opposing the Taliban.
She noted that these groups have united around core principles such as national sovereignty, democratic governance, and the guarantee of human rights for all Afghans, especially women and girls.
McGregor emphasized the importance of continuing such alliances with the active participation of women and women’s groups, expressing hope for more coalitions with strong female involvement in the future.
Her remarks followed a joint statement by several Afghan political groups during the “National Solidarity of Afghan Political Parties and Movements” online meeting, which prioritized resolving Afghanistan’s crisis through dialogue, respect for human rights, and transparency in humanitarian aid.
