Pakistani media report that four police officers were killed in an ambush by unidentified gunmen in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The attack took place in the Karak district, where the assailants opened fire on the police vehicle before setting it ablaze.
Security officials stated that the attackers managed to escape the scene, and a search operation is currently underway.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has seen a sharp rise in violence against security forces in recent months, with many attacks claimed by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
This incident underscores the deteriorating security situation in Pakistan’s tribal regions. While Islamabad frequently alleges that such attacks are orchestrated from across the border in Afghanistan, the Taliban administration in Kabul denies these accusations, labeling the violence as Pakistan’s internal problem.
