Jamiat-e-Islami, led by Salahuddin Rabbani, has issued a strong condemnation of the Taliban’s suppression of protests in Badakhshan and Takhar.
The party accused the group of looting natural resources and destroying the environment through unregulated mining.
In a statement, the party affirmed that local residents have a legitimate right to protect their resources.
It criticized the Taliban for responding with violence, stating that the regime’s oppression now extends to Afghanistan’s natural heritage.
